We were invited to experience Light Up UCF to showcase the variety of activities and fun to be had at this must-visit holiday event. All opinions are my own and we can’t wait to go back to Light Up UCF with toddlers again!
As Orlando locals and UCF alumni I have frequented Light Up UCF a few times, but this year I got to experience Light Up UCF with toddlers! My 4-year-old and 2 years old were in heaven on campus (go Knights!) and didn’t want to leave! Experiencing local events is something we do as often as possible and when it’s toddler-friendly it’s truly a win-win. The Light Up UCF event runs November 16th through January 1st, 2019. The event includes a holiday light show, rides, a holiday film (we watched a bit of Muppets Christmas on the lawn), Ice Rink, Santa Claus photo opt, horse carriage ride, and more. The event is perfect for all ages from students to alumni to kids of all ages. Here’s a bit more why Light Up UCF with toddlers is a must-do holiday experience this year.
Light Up UCF with Toddlers
There’s nothing quite like making memories and trying things out for the first time. My 4-year-old tried ice skating for the first time and it melted my heart. He didn’t enjoy it, but I was so proud of him for trying. We made it halfway around the rink holding on to the wall, but my 4-year-old did it! Proud mom moment, ha! There’s also the option to slide down a small snow slope (think sledding for all ages) on the side of the ice rink too.
We were welcomed with cocoa and cookies as part of the invited media coverage and my 2-year-old was a big fan of the monster sized cookies. Outside of the cookies, my little Sebastian loved the snoap (Florida snow). So much snoap falls randomly throughout the night and it’s a sight to see, y’all! Seeing toddlers giggle in Florida snow is pure joy. There is also a light show coordinated to popular Christmas music songs and it will pause you in your tracks because it’s just too cool!
We rode a few rides including the Ferris wheel, the horse carriage ride around campus, and the toddler and baby friendly train. We even met Santa and had a photo taken with him. My oldest is one of Santa’s biggest fans so it was a sweet moment.
When you walk into the Light Up UCF area you’re welcomed by so many colorful holiday lights on rows and rows of palm trees. This Floridian can’t get enough of that view during the holidays!
Head to UCF this holiday season to soak up all the things Light Up UCF has to offer and bring an entire gang of toddlers with you! My boys made new friends running around the hub like grass area; it’s truly a magical experience. Send me a message on IG if you head to Light Up UCF letting me know your thoughts and experience.
