The husband and I don’t get very many opportunities to head to the movie theater (we’ve been once since having baby) so movie nights in are a regular for us. Movie night in is also date night for us. From time to time I get fancy with our movie night essentials and embellish a tad. Ok, so maybe I don’t get fancy but I do find ways to add a little something extra to basic must-have movie snacks. wink!
We enjoy all types of movies but comedies tend to be our regularly watched genre. The husband and I couldn’t get enough of Joe Dirt, so checking out Joe Dirt 2 was a must, of course. For years we’ve been quoting Joe Dirt and some of the movie lines are running jokes with my in-laws. This past weekend we got comfy, got our snack on and watched Joe Dirt 2. I was pleasantly surprised to hear some of the same quotes used in the second movie. I picked a few of my favorite quotes from both movies and added them into my movie night in snack station. You’ll spot all the fun along with my movie night essentials and Joe Dirt brownies below!
So obviously sweets, popcorn and Coca-Cola are movie night snack essentials. But my movie night snack essentials are pretty specific.
Popcorn. Orville Redenbacher movie theater popcorn pop up bowls. 3 words- pop up bowls. Yes, there is such a thing! I don’t mind popping popcorn and pouring it in a large bowl for sharing, but pop up bowls? You don’t have to tell me about these twice.
Sweets. M&M’S® Chocolate Candies are my go to for movie night in. You can pour them over your popcorn or snack on them solo. The new 3.5oz canisters are the coolest! These little guys are perfect for snacking and the resealable lid makes things easier too. I’m all about convenience.
Coca-Cola. I’ll take a 6 pack 1/2 liter of Coca-Cola and you can toss in some Sprite and Coke Zero while you’re at it.
My other movie night essential is Vudu. Are you using Vudu? If you’re not you’ve been missing out, but don’t fret you can jump on now! When we purchase new movies we always make sure to enter the code for our digital copies on Vudu. When we travel having our personal collection of movies accessible from any smart TV is nice and only requires us to log into our Vudu account. Aside from entering your own personal movies, Vudu has a variety of movies to pick through which is perfect for date night in. Now that I have introduced you to the awesomeness of Vudu I have a surprise for you!
When you purchase participating products (Orville Redenbacher 6 pack theater popcorn, M&M’S® Chocolate Candies 3.5oz canisters and Coca-Cola 6-pack 1/2 liter) between 12/22/15 – 2/2/16 you get a $10 Vudu movie code by email. Code is limited to 1 per person and while supplies last. To register for your $10 Vudu credit snap a picture of your receipt and visit uploadreceipt.com/movienight by 2/9/15.
To make things easier for you I’ve shared a snapshot of where you can quickly find these items at your local Walmart. When looking for the 3.5oz canisters be sure to check near the registers.
The last movie night in essential is a fun recipe to go along with your Vudu movie and your standard movie snacks. For this movie night in I created Joe Dirt brownies, Joe Deertay brownies if you want to get fancy. These brownies are so simple Joe Dirt himself would jump on making them.
Box Brownie Mix
8oz of Coca-Cola
M&M’S® Chocolate Candies for topping
Now this is where things get complicated. Totally kidding.
Preheat oven as box brownie mix instructs
Pour brownie box contents into a bowl and omit all other ingredients listed
Mix in 8oz of Coca-Cola (it will fizz at first, but continue to stir until it’s blended well and the fizz will dissipate)
Bake for duration as box directs
Allow brownies to cool then top with M&M’S® Chocolate Candies
Are you mind blown by this ever so easy recipe?
So, I have to ask, what movie night in essentials do you have and what movie is on your list to watch next? Will you also be checking out Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser? For more fun movie night ideas head here.
